A retreat for young adults
Three Rivers Resort and Outfitting
Almont, Colorado 13-15 February 2015
This past February 13-15, 2015, I was invited to lead a spiritual retreat at Three Rivers Resort and Outfitting located in the historic mountain town of Almont, Colorado. It was a wonderful experience and opportunity to meet and spend time with young adult Catholics from the Diocese of Colorado Springs (St. Patrick Catholic Church) who were interested in deepening their Catholic faith and their relationship with Jesus Christ. These young adults are sign of great hope for the present and future Church…
The resort consists of a grouping of modest log cabins that are built a short walk from an area where two rivers – Taylor and East Rivers – merge to form the Gunnison River. As the advertisement states, “blue skies, high mountains, and crystal clear waters makes it an ideal getaway”, but as we found out, it also makes for an ideal spot for a spiritual retreat.
The theme for the pre-Lenten retreat was “In His Presence.” The majestic surroundings helped everyone experience the presence of God through his creation. The retreat included Mass, adoration, time for reflection and prayer, as well as several talks that offered solid guides for Christian living today including: reducing our spiritual background noise, the image of God within us, and the fundamental nature of mankind as made for communion. The talks will be transcribed in the near future and posted for everyone’s enjoyment. Included in this post are photos taken during a Stations of the Cross climb up a snowmobile trail in Almont mountains.
